I read the books I buy him first, just so I'm familiar with the content and so I can test his comprehension. I read this one last nite and was disappointed. My students loved the illustrations and many of them looked for other books by the same author (there are many). It introduced some challenging words (circumference) but in a way that the kids could understand. Rating: - If you've ever taught second grade...I discovered Dan Gutman's Weird School series from tutoring a second grade boy who "hated reading." Not only did he like the books, I loved them! Second graders are the crazy ones, and these books remind me of when I taught second grade. In fact, I think Dan Gutman must really be a second grader in disguise as a grown-up...
