The story is so emotionally potent, so filled with truth and imagination that a plain tale of the Yorkshire moor acquires the depth and intensity of a Greek tragedy. 4 cassettes. Book Description: Cambridge Literature is a series of literary texts edited for study by students aged 14-18 in English-speaking classrooms. Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte is edited by Richard Hoyes, Head of English and Media Studies, Farnham College, Surrey. Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Darkly beautifulOne of my favorites. I'm sure i will read it many more times more. A gothic love story, far from the usual heartwarming ones. I don't know what it is like to love a person so much to wreathe in agony and anguish forever. This made for an excellent read for precisely that. The narrative is gripping. All the characters, save Nelly and the narrator(i forget the name now), vie with each other in being degenerative. The amount of evil portrayed is sometimes off-putting. Even after several reads, i still ... Read More Rating: - tragically beautifuli came across wuthering heights while i was reading the twilight series, specifically "eclipse" as it was mentioned in it..i was curious as to what the book was all about so i read it.. in my opinion, it is tragically beautiful especially the catherine-heathclif's moments. true, both of them are horrible, horrible human being but when it comes to their relationship, you can't help but to root for them. One of my favourite part was when catherine was deciding whether or not to marry linton ... Read More Rating: - Brilliant....But it's not a love story... I really wish people wouldn't call it a love story. Its a story about thwarted passion and what happens when almost obsessive love is taken to extremes. I started to read on Monday and I have now finished it.. I loved every page but I am completely at a loss as to why Heathcliff is so adored. He isn't a romantic figure especially not in the latter half of the book and Cathy is so selfish and spoilt that they can't be together. Brilliant examination ... Read More Rating: - And this was voted England's favorite romance?I've recently had to read this book for AP Lit, like many of the other reviewers, and I don't see how this is a classic in any regard. Sure it is written in a lovely matter, but there are 15000 people with various English majors who can write beautifully as well. It's hailed as a love story, but at the core of it there isn't any love at all. Just an assortment of angry childish people all who are developed as a still birthed child. Heathcliff and (old) Catherine love each other. But WHY, they ... Read More Rating: - Will Always Be A ClassicI honestly didn't think that I would enjoy this book as much as I did. :] It is a love and hate story. I wasn't fond of Catherine or Heathcliff, but i enjoyed the book. It took me a little while to really get into but after that i couldn't put it down! :] But if your looking for a happy story with a good fairytale ending this book is not for you. For me I really did like this book but I don't think it's for everyone. <3
