Editorial Review:

Product Description:

Critics and readers agree that Curiosity Killed the Cat Sitter was a bona fide cozy hit. Its follow-up, Duplicity Dogged the Dachshund, won Blaize Clement a whole new set of fans. Now Floridian pet-sitting sleuth Dixie Hemingway is back in this third mesmerizing installment.
Dixie Hemingway discovers the dead body of the gatekeeper of a mansion. She’s had her fill of homicide investigations, so she leaves the corpse to be found by somebody else. But that somebody else sees Dixie leaving the scene of the crime, and the bullet that killed the man could have come from a gun she owns. To make matters worse, the owner of the mansion is a new client---a pain-wracked scientist who is either quite insane or a genius whose clandestine work may save millions of lives. Or both.
In either case, Dixie is stuck caring for him and his pet iguana. All that, plus a calico kitten Dixie is determined to save, put her right in the middle of a bizarre crisis fueled by dark secrets....

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Siesta Key comes alive
Mystery and Siesta Key is quite a combination. Anyone who has stayed on Siesta Key or in Sarasota will find Blaize Clement's descriptions and observations of life on the Key interesting and amusing. The book is an easy read and she continues to bring out new and interesting facts/observations on the Key in each book. The science of the mystery is a little goofy, but that can be overlooked because of the high degree of entertainment. I'm looking forward to the next!

Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Such a fun series
I picked up the first in this series because I am a retired pet sitter, but is is the great writing and stories that had me read all 3 in a short period of time. The author stays true to what a pet sitter does (oh I remember all of those 4 AM mornings!) while making Dixie a believable and likeable gal. Slowly, Dixie has been brought into the land of the living after the loss of her husband and daughter, not only with 2 potential love interests, but also by adopting a kitten. She is too often in ... Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Yes, pet sitting and murder do mix!
This third novel in a cozy mystery series featuring Dixie Hemingway got my attention from page one.

Dixie has been pet sitting about four years after leaving her job as a deputy with the Sarasota County Sheriff's Department. She is still trying to cope with the grief and tragedy of losing both her husband and child in an accident. Even though she is still resistant to dating again, Dixie is unable to ignore the disturbing attraction she is feeling for not one but two very sexy men. One ... Read More

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - A ho-hum read
I read this book in one day (it's a fairly quick read) and found it fairly dull and convoluted at times as relates to the biologic warfare storyline. I also found the 2 (count'em, 2) love interests reminiscent of the Stephanie Plum books where she can't make up her mind and has 2 successful men chasing her. I wasn't enamored of any of the new characters in this book and missed seeing more of Dixie's brother and Paco. I really loved her first book, but found her 2nd book rather creepy in terms of ... Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - entertaining mystery
Former Florida Deputy Sheriff Dixie Hemingway remains on administrative leave as she struggles with the deaths of her husband Todd and their daughter Christy. She earns a living as a pet sitter in Siesta Key, a barrier island off Sarasota, in an attempt to remain as far away from law enforcement as she can. Although she has not been as successful as she would have liked having recently been forced to kill an assailant.

Although she would prefer to hide in bed from the world for two reasons: ... Read More
