Reclusive author Beryl Madison finds no safe haven from months of menacing phone calls -- or the tormented feeling that her every move is being watched. When the writer is found slain in her own home, Kay Scarpetta pieces together the intricate forensic evidence -- while unwittingly edging closer to a killer waiting in the shadows.... Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - The Second Scarpetta Novel is a Decent ReadI haven't read a great deal of Patricia Cornwell, despite the fact that she is arguably the most successful crime writer alive in terms of sales. BODY OF EVIDENCE is the second Kay Scarpetta novel, written all the way back in 1991. I thought it was just an okay read. Seventeen years ago, BODY OF EVIDENCE was probably considered quite cutting edge for its time. This book is interesting and a definite page-turner, if only to bypass the descriptions and needless explainations for the nitty-gritty "that's what I read Cornwell for" stuff!! I've read every book in the Scarpetta series and I feel as though I could visit Kay, Lucy, Pete, etc. if I happened to find myself in Richmond. Ms. Cornwell is always a treat! Rating: - WonderfulThis book along with all the others in this series are wonderful and full of suspense. Will keep you guessing the entire time! Rating: - Never captured my interestWhen I had read over half of the book and I still was not interested nor felt strongly about any of the characters, I decided to call it quits. This was my first time to read Patricia Cornwell and I definitely prefer others like Sue Grafton, Janet Evanovich, John Grisham, etc. Rating: - DR. SCARPETTA M.D.This is one of Cornwell's strongest books, Scarpetta is at her most interesting, I had read this book several years ago, but had to reread it, to remember that Cornwell at one time could actually write. I've read her lastest Book of Death, and was like, did I ever like these characters? and the answer is..yes..well Scarpetta anyway,..i always disliked, the racist, homophobic, obtuse, moron Marino, Cornwell has him promoted book after book, and im like..WHY, he's a fool!!!, maybe now that he has assaulted ...
