Editorial Review:

Product Description:
Complete Digital Photography has become a classic book for helping traditional photographers move to digital! It's also the book of choice for many new digital photographers who want to learn how to take great digital photos. Now in its 4th edition, this bestseller has been fine-tuned and updated to provide the most current information available. Covering everything from the inner workings of the camera to the subtle intricacies of image editing software, the book is divided into four sections. The first section provides the basic technical foundation needed throughout the rest of the book. It details the basics of how digital cameras work and provides a quick photography primer. The second part explores everything needed to make an informed decision about which camera, computer, and software to choose. Section three has been thoroughly updated and expanded to cover the nitty gritty of shooting, including metering, choosing the right exposure, using histograms, flash photography, and much more. And the final section, teaches the latest digital editing and correction techniques, including new coverage of workflow and raw conversion.

Average Rating: out of 5 stars

Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Don't waste your money on this book.
Over half of this book is garbage. The author doesn't go into important aspects of digital photography that any photographer should learn. There's not enough information on ISOs, it doesn't explain the combination of aperture, shutter speed, and ISO in relation to the photograph being taken. There are spelling and grammatical errors strewn throughout the book, and it's not organized in a manner that will really help anyone take better photos. If I were to give an accurate description for this ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great guide, but it is a bit overwhelming to the beginner
I am new to the field of SLR photography. This book is for the person who is willing to commit to learning all the aspects of digital photography. It can be a bit overwhelming, especially compared to point-and-shoot photography. I find I need to reread sections of this book several times. I recommend reading a section and then immediately practicing the skill.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Good, but too Adobe
I am a semi-professional film photographer having published 100 or so images and am making the transition to digital. I am also interested in keeping the cost down, especially for software. The book is well-bound on high quality paper. It is helpful but I find its emphasis on Photo$hop annoying. He claims to be software agnostic but virtually every software manipulation example uses Photoshop. He spends considerable space on hardware, which is changing so rapidly I wonder if the info will stand the ... Read More

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Complete Digital Photograpy
Book is straightforward and detailed. Many illustrations make it a practical book for novice and advanced amateur alike. Plenty of info on image prep for output as well.

Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Great Resource
This is a great book for any level of photography. It has tips for beginners and for experts that will help take a great picture of those beloved moments. This also is great for helping get the most out of any camera that you have. I believe this book is worth getting if you are into photography. Good luck with your camera
