With the launch of the .NET 3.0 extensions in early 2007, the horizons of this language are being extended, and it is becoming even more powerful as it is able to leverage the new .NET 3.0 Foundations. In recognition of this, Apress presents Pro C# with .NET 3.0, Special Edition to provide you with a complete A-to-Z reference for using C# with the .NET 2.0 platform and the .NET 3.0 extensions. The book contains new chapters that explore the interactions between the existing framework and the new extensions, giving you an edge when you evaluate and implement .NET 3.0 for the first time. ![]() Rating: - Great intro to .NET through curly bracesI was given this book by a friend when I was leaving a Java shop where I was a junior developer to go to a .NET shop. This book did a great job of helping me navigate syntactic differences between Java and C#, and even helped me become a better developer overall. Great book for beginners. Rating: - Comprehensive and well-writtenPro - This book covers a lot of ground. The writing is clear and the explanation is good. This is definitely one of THE C# books to read. Con - Considering this is a book for professionals by professionals, I think some of the materials here may be too elementary for experienced software professionals. I also agree with other readers here that it does not cover enough of the 3.0+ material here. But I would imagine if it did, the book would be "super-huge". Verdict ... Read More Rating: - Elegant writing and thorough coverageFresh from bashing the bloated idiots' mind-dump produced by Wrox on this subject I felt compelled to put in a glowing endorsement of this very well written book. It's a fairly meaty book, intermediate to advanced I think, but so well written it's a joy to read. Rating: - Excellent ResourceLike Andrew's other books, this book is well written. It is an excellent resource for C# syntax, concepts, and under the hood workings. Unlike other technical resources, this book reads easy. The author doesn't jump full bore into a deep technical discussion without building and explaining concepts through concise, yet simple, language and numerous examples. A recommended desk ornament for any hard core programmer. Rating: - Apress does a real good jobThis book allowed to literally give away 3 rows of programming books. Apress always does a good job on their publications. This book is really all an experienced C# programmer needs in his library (aside from a good ASP.net) book for web design techniques
