Editorial Review: Product Description: The eighth book in Piers Anthony's Incarnations of Immortality series. It is the year 500 AD. Kerena, a beautiful young girl living near King Arthur's Camelot, is apprenticed to Morely the Seer. Morely teaches her fantastic magic, but when he mysteriously disappears, Kerena finds herself out on the street and must resort to prostitution to survive. Kerena prospers as a skilled courtesan until she is taken into service by Morgan le Fey, the sorceress sister of King Arthur. Kerena's knowledge of magic grows as she is required to carry out nefarious deeds for the evil Lady Fey. One of her missions is to seduce Sir Gawain, Knight of the Round Table, to prevent him from locating the Holy Grail. But Gawain and Kerena fall in love and she conceives his child, a child she discovers is cursed to die an early death. Using her Seer abilities, Kerena tries to locate the fabled Incarnations of Immortality, seeking their aid in removing the taint from her baby. Rebuffed by all seven major Incarnations, Kerena vows revenge. But revenge against such mighty immortals would require an even greater power... Average Rating:
![]() Rating: - Kerena, KerenaI was excited to learn an 8th installment had been published. I jumped into the story and felt at home again with the series i have only let one other person borrow to read. But, I soon realized this book was nothing like the prior 7. I was dissapointed that every chapter and almost every 3 pages of those chapters were fillied with sporadic sex scenes that had nothing to do with creating the plot. At first I was amused and thought the hint of sex in the story might make the book more fun. However, ... Read More Rating: - Under a Velvet Cloak a nice readPiers Anthony has used some help from readers of his other books in this Series, to make this book better. This book is interesting to read even if you haven't read the others in this Series, but if you have read the others this makes a fine addition as it ties up many loose ends from the other books. Rating: - Perhaps Old Age is creeping up on PiersThose of you complaining about the sex had better not read the Chroma-Magic series, there it is even longer, more intrusive and totally plot destroying. I think the main problem is there is no one left to tell Anthony "No". The story line was 500 AD... I don't think they had a sex-offender hot-line back then. I'm more concerned with the over-sexing of the most recent Xanth novels, because they *are* read by children. I was less bothered by too much sex as not enough of other things. ... Read More Rating: - Refresh yourself on the other 7 books before reading.I hadn't read the other books in this series in almost 10 years so I had forgotten many of the names and relationships, but I got through it. There's a lot more sex in this book than the others. I'm no prude but 3/4 through the book I found myself thinking, "THEY'RE DOING IT AGAIN?" This book doesn't answer any big lingering questions. That aside, I liked the story eventhough I was disappointed with the ending. Rating: - Its way too bigI just got the book delivered 2 minutes ago and my only thought is. ITS HUGE. Its the size of a hardcover book. Its supposed to be in the Incarnation of Immortality series, isnt it? Then why is it twice the size?
