Impaction and related problems are an inherent problem with any substrate. Seek veterinary care if your pet consumes large quantities of bedding. For Birds: Pour a layer of Carefresh on the bottom of the nest box or brooder adequate to cushion the size and type of bird you are raising. Change bedding as needed. While Carefresh is non-toxic, birds can become impacted just as they may with any bedding material. Observation and management will minimize impaction problems. Treat impacted crops promptly. For Reptiles: Line aquariums or displays with enough Carefresh to provide a solid footing. For Cat Litter: Carefresh is ideal for postoperative care (for recovery from declaw surgery for example). Flush used litter down toilet (one scoop at a time), discard with the trash, or incinerate. Used cat litter of any kind should not be used in the garden.  Rating:  - Best cat litter everIt's not marketed this way, but CareFresh is absolutely the best cat litter you can buy. It's completely non-toxic (clumping litters are toxic if ingested; cats lick their feet, and we all know what happens if dogs get to the cat box). It tracks much less than clay or clumping litters. It's light weight. It absorbs urine completely and there's virtually no odor. It's compostable. There's no scooping; for one cat, I empty the box once or twice a week. They have fleece in most of their cage, but I use this in a corner litter pan and in their food and hay area.
