DO NOT BUY THIS BOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rating: - This book SUCKS!!I am a student at Princeton Middle School in Princeton, WV and have to say that this book IS HORRIBLE...it gives confusing descriptions to describe the examples. And usually the examples are MUCH more different and sometimes easer than the problems assigned for you to work. And also, it uses a bunch of hard/confusing words that students often don't understand. I would honestly advise you to NOT buy this book! Rating:  - better than averageI majored in mathematics in college. Also my son used this textbook in his Algebra 1 class. I thought the book is better than average but not great. There is a nice clean format with review problems and practice tests. However, I thought some things could have been explained better. Rating:  - Simply amazingI can't believe the negative reviews submitted by others on this text. The text is meant to be used with all of the ancillary materials (Workbooks,Personal Tutor CD-ROM, Notetaking Guide, etc.) There are also transparencies for every chapter. The entire mathematics program from Larson is designed with this format. These are high school level mathematics courses and at the Houghton Mifflin website you will find college level mathematics courses by the same author. In fact, this author takes you from beginning Algebra all the way to Calculus and Differential Equations (high school thru college). I was so impressed with the computer tutorial CD-ROM because everything is explained in detail and there are computer quizzes to take after every lesson segment. These quizzes were designed to verify comprehension of the material before the student moves forward to the next lesson. Great job by all of those involved in putting this program together! Rating:  - Its a text bookmy public school system uses this book for their algebra classes its supose to be used with a teater there is also a book that has problem solutions
