The Amazon Store at MillionDollarPetPix.com ( In association with Amazon.com )Career Coward's Guide to Changing Careers: Sensible Strategies for Overcoming Job Search Fears (Career Coward's Guides) - Great Career Strategies from a True ProfessionalI worked in the same industry for several decades and felt as if it might be impossible to switch industries, but after reading this book, I have confidence that my skills and abilities can be applied to many different industries and positions. More importantly, I know which skills I enjoy using and fit with my natural talents and abilities. The exercises are both fun and enlightening and something that I plan to use on a regular basis when evaluating job opportunities. I have found this book and its companion book on Interviewing to be invaluable sources of information that would be beneficial to read at any stage of one's career. Katy Piotrowski has done a great job at covering so many important topics in both books that I know that they will be a highly valued part of my personal library for many years to come. They are true confidence builders that I am happy to recommend to anyone looking to explore new career possibilities. Rating: - Light bulb moment for DianaFromIowaThis is a great workbook for anyone who as ever thought of changing careers. My confidence rose with each chapter. The "panic points" seemed to be reading my thoughts and doubts. After putting together my career choices compass, I had a light bulb moment. I now realize that I have several career options that I didn't see before. After working in one career most of my life, nursing, I now feel ready to make a career change into a more creative, fun, and less stressful job. I plan to buy this book for my son for Christmas. It's a scary step to take if you've been in the same field for many years. Katy provides exercises that you can take to evaluate your areas of interest. Or, if you already have a new career in mind she helps you develop a plan to pursue your goal and ultimately find happiness! Each step helps pave the path for you. If ever I had doubts, I'd read her "Core Courage Concept". She makes complete sense and seems as if she knows exactly what you are thinking! This book is great, and if you're looking for that extra push, Katy gives it to you! I highly recommend this book for anyone even thinking of making a career change. You won't regret it! Rating: - Career Coward's Guide - Have Courage!I just had to write a quick review of this little gem of a book. Don't judge a book by its cover. It actually takes a lot of courage to align our values, our work, and our lives with the divine inside. I believe that is the purpose of this book and it does the job very well. As a recent career changer, I have read many books on this topic. What sets this book apart is that it avoids digging into past pyschological hang ups and focuses on the work at hand. As you work through the exercises you begin to see possibilities rather than limitations. With solid information at our finger tips, barriers previously faced seem much easier to overcome. We all like to be guided along and this book offers expert guidance in a warm, personal tone. You will feel like author Katy Piotrowski is personally helping you take the steps needed to discover the work you were meant to do. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is really ready to explore career options and make lasting life changes. Rating: - From the Biggest CowardThe title of this series is what caught me; if we would only admit it, we are ALL cowards when it comes to career change. Being in an older age bracket doesn't help, but this book did, immensely. Clear, fun, and wonderfully positive, the author takes you through easy steps towards something that could have been so daunting. I loved the "Pinpoint Your Passion Zones" section, the Best-Kept Career-Change Secret, and the help with handling career-change confusion. I could see myself in some of the Career Champ Profiles. Really, this was all I needed to boost my confidence to make a successful career change.
