This is Blue, also known as Old Blue, or BlueJeans depending on who is around.
I adopted Blue as my pet last year and my parents agreed with this as long as I make sure that Blue is fed and watered each day. I like looking after Blue and love feeding him hay by hand for a snack when I get home after school. He's a great pet.
Blue has a funny nature and like any mule he can be pretty stubborn. When he doesn't want to move, no amount of pushing or pulling help. My Mom says that Blue teaches us patience.
Since I'm only 10 years old I'm not too big to go for rides on Blue's back. I use a pony harness and ride bareback in our fields. We have horses too but Blue is just the right size for me and he doesn't go to fast. Also, if he decides to throw me, it is not too far to the ground for me to fall. Usually I wear my bike helmut when I take Blue out for a ride since more than ence he's tried to knock me off along one of our fences. Sometimes he also bucks like a horse, so I have to really hang on tight. When I remember to bring them, I also wear riding gloves.
Blue makes me laugh a lot, especially when he tries to push our farmyard goats away when they are being fed straw through the fence. He isn't mean, but just tries to get more than his share sometimes.
