Our Afghan Hound is called Ginni. She is a very high energy blond dog that loves being with our family. When the kids were smaller, Ginni was just like having another kid, but she has quieted down as the kids have!
Ginni loves to be brushed and there is no shortage of people in our house who love to do this for her. When we're sitting around in the evening she gets way more attention than this poor old Mom. I have to go to a spa to get pampering like this.
Ginni loves to run so we bring her to a nearby dog park every day (sometimes twice a day) to let her get all the exercise she needs. She loves to go after a thrown ball or stick and never tires of this game. She's made quite a few friends there, especially with a large old Red Setter called Duffer.
You can imagine how important bath time is for Ginni with her long beautiful coat. It sure takes a lot of work to get Ginni cleaned up and she is not always very cooperative about bath time. We've have recently managed to build a shower stall behind our garage just for Ginni since we have plans to offer pet grooming services soon, which will make good use of this facility.
We show Ginni at local dog shows and she seems to enjoy this. She often comes in second or third. Despite her high energy she is quite obedient and I think more than anything else people love to see the swishing elegance of her long lovely coat. Whether she wins or not she is definitely our star pet!
