Wally is a whacky pet wabbit that visits our garden every day. Actually Wally hides out in the hedge and may even have been born there. His Mom is huge and has been in our garden for a few years now. This always amazes us since there are also small fox in the area as well as weasels that could be interested in a rabbit dinner. We're glad they're still around and safe.
Not everyone agrees with these feelings. Many feel that rabbits are pests, but we really don't have too many. We just see a Wally, his Mom and maybe a sibling. Wally hops the small garden wall and shares our lettuce with us. He also likes some of the flowers but is not greedy so we really don't mind. His special hangout is around the many bird feeders we have. He checks them like clockwork to scoop up any seed that the birds drop when they visit the feeders. Wally also visits our garden pond for a cool drink on a hot day.
He is a lovely addition to our home and we think of he and his Mom as pets more than wildlife. We think they know they are protected with us and so enjoy going freely about the place even when we are in it too. We think this is just great.
