Though not your typical pet we wanted to include Babe the gecko in the pet time capsule since we think it is such a cute idea to share pet photos with everyone this way.
Our new house in Florida is surrounded by all types of wildlife which we take delight in seeing everyday. But it is Babe, our visitor gecko, who gives us all the giggles. While there are geckos of all sizes and shapes scurrying around, it is Babe who has made the area in front of our house his home. We know him by the distinctive white spot that is on his tail. We now think of him as a pet.
On most days we’ll see Babe when we raise the garage door. He sits by a planter that he uses to hide behind when we get too close. After staring up at us for a few moments, he’ll scurry under a hedge until we leave. Babe gets really brave when he sits on our N.Y. Yankee plaque. As you can see, we were able to get close enough to take his picture before he hurried off.
You might be wondering why we named him Babe. Well... since we wanted to make our special gecko a pet star and the fact that he sits on our Yankee plaque, we figured there is no bigger star in Yankee history than Babe Ruth….so he became known as Babe. Yay team!
