Bandit

This is Bandit. You can clearly see from his expression that he is aptly named. Bandit is my pet ferret... still little but strong and full of nonsense.

If you've ever read the story called Bright Water about an adopted Otter, you'll understand why I chose a ferret instead of an Otter. Ferrets are related but much smaller and somewhat, (not a lot more, but somewhat) easier to manage... especialy since I do not live by the sea or a lake.

Owning a ferret is a real commitment because they need so much attention, careful watch on their diet and well, just becasue of their fiendish nature. It is no wonder many end up in shelters. So if you're thinking of one be sure to do a lot of research and even try to visit a home where one lives if you can, so that you will really understand what you're taking on.

This little guy is into everything and makes me laugh every day. He is very curious about everything, very playful and loveable. I turned an extra bedroom into his play space so he is free to run around there when I'm at work.

He jumps around the empty cardboard boxes in his room and tugs and plays with his towels and blankets. Bandit likes to hide in the blankets and makes tunnels with them to race through. He fav foods are peanut butter, kitten food, dog biscuits carrots and bananas.

When I come home, Bandit gets to have the run of the house. I've had to child-proof the place to ensue that he doesn't get into any mischief or hurt himself as he likes to chew on just about everything. So I can't leave bottle tops or such small things around, as he'd swallow those for sure.

In many ways Bandit reminds me of an overgrown squirrel. When he wants my attention he does a crazy sort of dance and he likes it when I chase after him.  Sort of like playing tag. I'm not fond of heat and neither is Bandit.  We both stay in the shade or in air conditioning on a really hot day.

petpixstarOkay, now I hae to go... Bandit is doing his crazy little dance again, which means that we must play NOW!
