Have you ever visited a hobby farm and had this happen?
What fun we've had around here this week!
One of our writers visited some new friends in the country and had a truly hair-raising time.
When invited to visit some new friends who own a hobby farm, she gladly accepted and drove out on a warm and sunny day.
She waited in the car for a few minutes to see if there would be any guard dogs around. The yard was pretty muddy so she didn't want any excited dogs jumping on or around her.
When Chelsea, the friendly-looking family dog did appear she was welcoming but did not bark or jump. Whew, that was a relief!
While getting out of the car and patting the dog, this writer and pet-lover spied the adjoining corral across the driveway. Two lovely young girls were getting ready to practice jumping with their ponies.
Welllll,
This is when the real fun began! The ponies were just walking around the training ring waiting for the girls to finish setting up the jumps. One of the ponies looked over at the visitor and started to run and it looked like it might jump the fence it had so much energy.
The horse did not have to jump the fence. The gate was open! In seconds this frisky pony was racing towards the visitor! Having no idea what to expect, this visitor started to gallop at top speed to the front door of the house.
When the horse owner finally came running from around the hedge to catch her missing pony, everyone was laughing or near crying with laughter. What a sight! The pony looked confused...
The visitor, our writer, gasped through her laughter. She said that she had seen lots of guard dogs in her travels but had never before come across a guard horse!
No doubt the pont thought everyone had lost their minds.
Too bad we didn't get this on video, as it would have been a very popular laugh on YouTube.
