The Genesis Awards, held each year in Hollywood, is a media awards event sponsored by the Humane Society of the United States.

A number of celebrity presenters assist in presenting awards to recognize and honor those in the news and entertainment media who have produced outstanding works to raise public understanding of animal issues that convey respect and compassion for animals.

The philosophy behind the Genesis Awards, that were established by Gretchen Wyler more than 20 years ago, is that "the media has the power to change minds and influence behavior, ultimately leading to a more humane society."

Some of these many celebrities who support the Genesis Awards and who have been presenters of these awards over the years include Lynn Redgrave, Cheryl Tiegs, Betty White, Pierce Brosnan, Doris Roberts, Victor Webster, Alicia Silverstone, Brooke Shields, Carl Reiner, Alexandra Paul, Tippi Hedron, and Persia White to name but a few...

The 2007 Genesis Awards gala was held at the Beverly Hilton hotel and attened by 800 supporters.  Gretchen Wyler, who had retired in 2006 as Vice President of the HSUS Hollywood office, was recognized with an award named in her honor and in recognition of her ourstanding work that has spanned over 40 years as an animal welfare activist. She then presented the first Wyler Award to Sir Paul McCartney, a long-time activist and supporter of the HSUS, for his enduring commitment to being a voice for animal welfare.

Everyone at MillionDollarPetPix.com salutes Gretchen Wyler for her passion, strength and continued efforts to make a positive difference "for the animals."  We believe in her work and hold her in highest regard. Gretchen is and always will be an inspiration and role model to all of us.

Our tribute to Gretchen's beautiful memory is the contibution we pledge to the Genesis and Wyler Awards. We hope that our support, through your membership fees, will let all of us help to further her stellar work "for the animals".
