Q. Can My Deceased Pet Speak to Me? Print E-mail

“My lovely old cat, Tipper, died last month at 16 years old.  I miss him terribly.  Val, I can swear that Tipper is still in the house.  I feel my dear old pet is trying to talk to me.  Is this possible - or am I just imagining this because I miss him so much?”
Debra  (Boise, Idaho)

Hi Debra,
Though you may not think so, I'd say that your experience is very common and normal.  Spirit and energy continue even after the physical body is gone.  Often an animal friend will return to their person when they leave their body (although not always).  Sometimes this is because we still need them, or there is something unresolved between you, or is due to a tragic or sudden death that they haven’t come to terms with yet making them stuck here for some reason.  Sometimes they want to bring a message back to us, or to simply help us through our grief.

I’ve personally had many loved ones transition, so I do understand the heartache of experiencing the loss of the separation.  My 19 ½ year old “master teacher disguised as a cat” named Peach died a tragic death after being hit by a car a number of years ago.  Many times since then I’ve felt her presence, her weight on my lap, or her whispering in my ear.  When I become aware of her, I always take a moment to acknowledge her, wish her well, and thank her for the many gifts she has shared with me.  She helped teach me about life after death and her lessons have been rich, clear and very comforting.

One of the things that blocks us from being able to hear and connect with our animal friends after they are gone is our own guilt, suffering, painful thoughts and regrets. When we tune in and reconnect with them, we can discover more peace and experience a loving acceptance of what has happened.  The animal spirit may then continue on with us as a guide, or may just go Home, leaving their love behind.

I also assist people to let go by taking them through a Closure Process.  So if you are feeling stuck and unable or unwilling to let Tiger go and move forward with your life, let me know.  I can help.

In the meantime, please accept my sympathies for your loss.  I do understand.

Many Blessings,

Val Heart, MBA, PaCBP
