The Newfoundland Dog Print E-mail

The very large and beautiful Newfoundlander dog breed can weigh up to 150 pounds (the size of many adult humans)... wow! Needles to say, it eats tons of food... not unlike the St. Bernard dog from Switzerland.

The Newfoundland dog is classed as a working dog in dog show competitions. It is believed that this dog breed was first brought to newfoundland in Canada by famous explorer Leif Erikson. As a working dog, the Newfoundlander has been employed for years pulling fishing nets for fishermen.
