Froggy Facts Print E-mail

get-hoppinDid you know?

There are about 4,000 known species of frogs in the world!

You might miss finding the smallest one in the southern hemishpere though. This gold-colored frog from Brazil has a body that is only the size of the tip of your finger (less than half an inch)!

Some deadly frogs are useful. The marine toad is used to kill insects that infests sugar cane. This mighty toad can actually squit a poison from a gland behind its ear that kills the insects. Could be the toad also just swallows these pests. The poison is so powerful that if swallowed, could kill a dog.
Check back here for more froggy facts as we add them.  In the meantime here are some good books about frogs, from our friends at Amazon.com, which may interest you.
