A young man bought two horses but he can't tell them apart. His neighbor tells him to trim one of the horses manes, which he did. The other horse however gets its mane trimmed next day by the stable boy who thought it would be a nice surprise for the owner.
So, then the neighbor suggests that the owner braid the hairs of the tail of one horse so that he could tell the difference. Again, the energetic and overly helpful stable boy braids the other horse's tail.
A little frustrated by all of this the neighbor says ''Why don't you measure one the horses and see which one is taller.'' So the owner did and was relived to find out that the black horse was 6 inches taller than the white horse.
